BURLINGTON — The Burlington Police Department’s newest sworn officer already has over three years of law enforcement experience.
Officer Kevin Steere joined the Burlington Police Department from the Dracut Police Department earlier this month.
Officer Steere began his law enforcement career as a 911 dispatcher in Dracut in 2017. In 2019, he also began working as a dispatcher in Lowell. In 2022, he graduated from the police academy and joined Dracut Police as a patrol officer.
In Dracut, Officer Steere expanded his experience managing high-stress incidents, applied de-escalation techniques, investigated criminal cases, and testified in court, among other duties, through his time at the department. He also participated in the Dracut Police Community Engagement Unit, and taught youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while building relationships and emphasizing discipline, confidence, and personal safety.
Officer Steere holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Middlesex Community College and a Bachelor’s of Criminal Justice from UMass Lowell.
“Officer Steere has proven himself to be a compassionate and poised dispatcher, and an engaged and capable officer already in his career,” said Chief Thomas Browne. “We are very pleased to welcome an officer of this caliber to Burlington.”
