CANTON — Chief Michael K. Daniels reports that the Canton Police Department arrested a Canton man early Wednesday morning after he allegedly opened a woman’s bedroom window, reached inside and grabbed her while she was sleeping.
HELOHIM NEDVALDO FRANCILME, 21, of CANTON, was arrested and charged with:
- Breaking and Entering a Building During the Nighttime with Intent to Commit a Felony
- Assault and Battery
On Wednesday, July 22, at about 2:10 a.m., Canton Police responded to a Pond View Road home for a report that someone had opened a bedroom window from outside, called the victim by name, and fled.
During a preliminary investigation, officers learned that a 21-year-old woman was sleeping when her ankle was grabbed through the open window. She kicked at the person and ran from the room. Officers immediately searched the area.
Police subsequently learned that FRANCILME had attempted to contact the victim on social media about an hour before the incident. Officers responded to FRANCILME’s residence and developed probable cause to arrest him.
“I’d like to acknowledge and commend the officers who responded to this incident for their professionalism, compassion toward the victim, and thorough investigative work,” said Chief Daniels. “Their coordinated response and attention to detail led to the rapid development of investigative leads while ensuring the victim and her family received support during this traumatic event.”
These are allegations. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
