Billerica Police Department Welcomes Three New Officers from the Municipal Police Training Committee Randolph Police Academy

BILLERICA — The Billerica Police Department is welcoming three new police officers who were sworn in Monday after graduating from the Randolph Police Academy.

Officers William James Curra, Joseph Chasse, and Adam Kearns graduated on Friday from the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) Randolph Police Academy.

All three were sworn in on Monday morning by Billerica Town Clerk Sandra Giroux.

Officer Curra moved from Tewksbury to Billerica as a teenager, and graduated from Billerica Memorial High School, where he played football and wrestled. He worked for several years in security, customer service, and finance at the former Lynnway Auto Auction, which later became America’s Auto Auction of Boston. He also worked for several years at a commercial moving company and obtained his CDL driver’s license. Officer Curra was recognized with the Academic Achievement Award for being ranked first in the class at the academy.

Officer Chasse is a Billerica native who graduated from Billerica Memorial High School, where he played varsity ice hockey. Officer Chasse continued to play ice hockey after high school for two years, and also worked as a construction laborer for six years.

“It has always been a lifelong goal of mine to work in law enforcement, and I am honored to be able to serve the community I grew up in,” said Officer Chasse.

Officer Kearns is a Billerica native who graduated from the Masonry Program at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School, where he played soccer and baseball. He later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University, where he minored in psychology and political science. He participated in internships with two police departments during his college years.

“I am excited to come back to my hometown to engage with the community and keep the town safe,” said Officer Kearns.

“The Billerica Police Department is proud of its deep roots in our community, and we are pleased to welcome three qualified men who grew up in our town to the department,” said Chief Roy Frost. “I look forward to seeing where these men will go in their careers, and all the ways in which they will serve the community.”
