BLACKSTONE — There’s nothing quite like the sound of live music, outside, in the summertime, with friends and family.
The Blackstone community invites all lovers of live music to a stacked lineup of at least seven talented bands slated to take the stage at the Town of Blackstone’s celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday this weekend.
“So many people in town are helping out and making this happen,” said Blackstone’s 250th Semiquincentennial Celebration organizer Chie Ferrelli. “The whole town is incredibly excited. Crosswalks have been painted red, white and blue all over town, and we have a giant bull dressed in a patriotic outfit outside Blackstone-Millville Regional High School.”

Ferrelli thanked the Celebration’s sponsors and partners: Kimball Sand Company (Liberty Sponsor), Green Choice Cannabis Dispensary, DDM Cannabis Dispensary, IDEAL Craft Cannabis Dispensary, Unibank, Mass Cultural Council, Metacomet Land Trust and the Bik Family.
“The weekend’s lineup includes high-energy dance rock and acoustic trios to a full 80-piece symphonic ensemble,” said Ferrelli. “Our main stage will feature an incredible mix of local and New England talent.”
The following acts are scheduled to perform at Blackstone’s 250th Semiquincentennial Celebration:
The Strumdawgs
A powerhouse 3-piece acoustic trio delivering “Real Acoustic Rock” with classic hits from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, featuring musicians John Duggan, Gene Washington and Alan Greco. (Friday, July 24, from 4-6:30 p.m.)
Just Wingin’ It
A high-energy classic rock band dedicated to playing all your favorite rock anthems and timeless hits. They bring the energy, the fun, and a setlist that will have everyone singing along. (Friday, July 24, 6:30-9 p.m.)
Sentimental Fools
Packing a punch with tight musicianship and a deep catalog of high-energy pop-rock classics. (Saturday, July 25, 12:30-3 p.m.)
Getaway
A high-energy classic rock and dance band playing everyone’s favorite hits from the 1970s to the 1990s. They’ve been rocking New England for 14 years! (Saturday, July 25, 3:30-6 p.m.)
Northeast Groove
Bringing the ultimate party vibe with a rockin’ mix of classic rock, blues, and timeless anthems. (Saturday, July 25, 6:30-9 p.m.; followed immediately by a massive Saturday night fireworks display!)
Lizzie & Jeremy Acoustic
A dynamic duo serving up beautifully blended harmonies and stripped-down acoustic versions of popular cross-genre hits. (Sunday, July 26, 12:30-3 p.m.)
Blackstone Valley Community Concert Band
Now in its 24th year, this spectacular 80-piece volunteer ensemble brings powerful symphonic sounds and patriotic classics to the celebration. (Sunday, July 26, 3:30-6 p.m.)
Get ready to celebrate with an incredible lineup of local talent at the Blackstone Semiquincentennial,” said Celeste Langlois, one of Blackstone’s 250th Semiquincentennial Celebration Committee members and the Town’s Parks and Recreation Commission Chairperson. “From toe-tapping tunes to crowd favorites everyone knows and loves, there will be no shortage of live music to enjoy throughout the celebration. We’re thrilled to welcome seven outstanding local musical acts to the center stage, bringing energy, hometown pride, and plenty of opportunities to sing along, dance, and make lasting memories with family and friends!”
The bands will take the stage outside Blackstone-Millville Regional High School, 175 Lincoln St., Blackstone.
Fireworks are set to ignite at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, after the evening’s performers finish their sets. A fireworks rain date has been set for Sunday, July 26, at 9 p.m., in case of inclement weather. The Semiquincentennial Committee advises fireworks show attendees to arrive with lawn chairs and blankets early to claim a good spot on school grounds.
“We have something planned for everyone,” said Langlois. “This weekend, the Town of Blackstone will host a spectacular four-day celebration, from July 23-26. Come for the carnival, and stay for the vendors and live music. All ages will find something special at our recognition of the nation’s 250th birthday!”

A Semiquincentennial 5K Road Race will kick off from Blackstone-Millville Regional High School at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 25. And the Carnival will be alive from noon through 11 p.m., all four days.
The Blackstone’s 250th Semiquincentennial Celebration will primarily take place at a centralized location, Blackstone-Millville High School. It’s a rain or shine event. Food trucks will be positioned outside, but there will be an indoor location for vendors.

Carnival-goers can maximize their fun with daily Unlimited Ride Wristbands. Bands can be purchased during the hours specified below, to ride as many times as their hearts desire.
