EZRA FOSS, 28, of MORGAN, VT, was arrested and charged with:
- First Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault (Three Counts)
- Domestic Assault (13 Counts)
- Reckless Endangerment
- Grossly Negligent Operation
- Domestic Assault Committed in Presence of a Child
- Persons Prohibited from Possessing Firearms
- Unlawful Restraint
On Monday, Oct. 19, at approximately 10:54 a.m., Newport Police received a 911 call reporting that a man was holding a woman and her children against their will inside a vehicle.
Responding officers located the vehicle carrying the woman and two children. Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as FOSS.
A preliminary investigation determined that FOSS followed the woman’s vehicle while in a separate vehicle, drove erratically and pulled in front of her to block the road. FOSS then allegedly grabbed the woman by the throat, pointed a handgun at her and forced his way into the vehicle, driving off with the woman and children inside before being stopped by police.
FOSS was arrested without incident. He was arraigned in Orleans County Superior Court on Tuesday and was held without bail.
