BEDFORD — Chief Daniel Douidi reports that the Bedford Police Department responded to an incident involving an individual who appeared to be carrying a weapon.
On Tuesday, Sept. 9, at approximately 2 p.m., Bedford Police received reports of an individual walking along Gault Road with what appeared to be a long gun.
Due to the proximity of Gault Road to the Bedford School District, out of an abundance of caution and in coordination with school officials, Bedford High School, Ross Lurgio Middle School, McKelvie Intermediate, and Peter Woodbury Elementary School were placed in a brief secure campus mode.
Bedford Police, with the assistance of Manchester Police and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, searched the area thoroughly.
The individual was located at 2:55 p.m. The weapon was determined to be a pellet gun.
At this time, there is no immediate threat to the public or the school community.
“Public safety is our top priority, and our department takes all reports of this nature extremely seriously,” said Chief Douidi. “I would like to thank our mutual aid partners and our officers for their quick and diligent response.”
At this time, charges have not been filed, and the individual is cooperating with police.
The incident remains under investigation by Bedford Police. Anyone who may have information regarding the incident is asked to contact Bedford Police at 603-472-5113.
