Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments Respond to Head-On Crash with Injuries

BRIDGEWATER — Police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte and Fire Chief John Schlatz report that the Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments responded to a head-on motor vehicle crash on Bedford Street on Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 1:50 p.m. on June 30, Bridgewater Police and Fire received multiple 911 calls reporting a two-vehicle crash in the area of 994 Bedford St. (Route 18).

First responders arrived to find a mid-sized sedan and a minivan with heavy front-end damage after an apparent head-on collision.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the sedan crossed the center line before striking the minivan.

Bridgewater Fire Department Ambulance 1 transported the driver of the sedan, a young adult male, to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.

Bridgewater Fire Department Ambulance 4 transported an elderly male passenger from the minivan, and a Raynham Fire Department ambulance transported the elderly female driver of the minivan, both to Boston Medical Center – South in Brockton. They both suffered serious injuries.

Despite the extensive damage to both vehicles, firefighters were able to quickly remove all occupants and provide immediate medical care.

The crash remains under investigation by the Bridgewater Police Department.
