BARRINGTON — The Barrington School Building Committee is pleased to announce the launch of a new website aimed at informing residents and stakeholders with vital news and information about the proposed $250 million school construction bond and related building project.
The website barringtonschoolsproject.org features key information about the proposed construction bond including: project goals, documents, important dates, meeting minutes/agendas, and recordings of community meetings. It also features a tax impact calculator that strives to give Barrington residents a better understanding of the project and what is being asked of them.
Barrington is at a critical decision point. Our critical school infrastructure is aging and our elementary school enrollment continues to increase, stretching capacity. The proposed project options strategically enable Barrington to take advantage of an unprecedented 55% reimbursement rate from RIDE to address the needs of our elementary schools and make a significant investment at the High School. This will help position Barrington as an education-first community for the next century. Patrick McCrann, SC Chair
A news blog on the project website is being regularly updated with the latest correspondence from the Barrington School Building Committee and other updates. The website also links to the District’s social media pages in order to efficiently broadcast the latest updates to the public.
Community members can use the website to find critical information about the project, subscribe for email updates from the Building Committee, and receive alerts when new information is posted.
The next Future of Our Schools Community Conversation will be on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 6:00 p.m. at Barrington Middle School. It will also be broadcast on Zoom, live streamed on the building project website, and recorded for those who cannot attend.
The next Building Committee meeting will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at Barrington Middle School, and all meetings are also broadcast via Zoom.
