*Media Advisory* Rochester Coalition to Host Talk on Drug Prevention

ROCHESTER — Coalition Coordinator Molly Martuscello is pleased to announce that Bridging The Gaps, Rochester’s Drug and Alcohol Prevention Coalition, is hosting “It Takes a Village: Community Talks,” an event focused on preventing substance use by youth in the city.

WHEN

Thursday, March 16 from 6-8:30 p.m.

WHERE

Rochester Opera House, 31 Wakefield St.

WHO

Ann Duckless, Community Educator and Prevention Specialist for New Hampshire’s National Alliance on Mental Health

WHAT

“It Takes a Village: Community Talks” seeks to provide resources, support and information for community members on the signs of substance abuse, and how to prevent drug use in the home. The event will focus on preventing drug use from a young age and delve into the factors that contribute to substance abuse.

Duckless, a local suicide prevention expert, will speak on how mental health and suicidal thoughts are connected to and enhanced by substance use.

This event is part one of a two-part series. The second Community Talk is currently scheduled for Thursday, May 18.

“This year, the coalition is focusing on giving community members tools to help support the young people of Rochester in the fight against substance use,” Martuscello said. “We encourage all Rochester residents to attend this year’s events.”

Both Community Talks are free and open to all community members. Light refreshments will be provided.
