DRACUT — Dracut Firefighters acted quickly Monday morning and contained a fire in a multi-bay commercial garage to just one unit, sparing other units from fire damage.
On Monday, Nov. 2, at approximately 8 a.m., the Dracut Fire Department was called to a multi-bay commercial garage at 103 Pleasant St.
Companies were already on the scene of a crash on Merrimack Avenue and responded from there. Firefighters arrived to find smoke and fire coming from a garage bay and the building’s roof.
A quick, aggressive attack by Engine 2, Engine 3 and the Tower Truck with two hose lines, one on the roof and one in the bay, knocked the fire down before it could spread to other bays in the facility.
There was smoke, fire and water damage in the bay where the fire occurred. There were no reported injuries.
Additional personnel were able to respond to the fire since it occurred at shift change. Firefighters from Tyngsborough and Pelham, N.H. covered Dracut stations.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Dracut Fire Department.
“I want to thank firefighters for an aggressive and skillful attack today that spared other bays from fire damage,” said Chief Michael Cunha.
