LOWELL — MonsterBash and Fall Fest rose to new heights this bicentennial year as hundreds of drones took to the sky above downtown Lowell for the city’s first-ever drone show.
The Lowell Bicentennial Committee generously funded the show, with the City’s 200-year history projected in the sky by the most modern of technologies.
The drone show was held as community members and children wore their costumes and traveled along Merrimack Street for carnival rides, a haunted house, musical performances by Jim Plunkett, Fearless: the Taylor Swift Experience, and Booty Vortex, and trick-or-treating at downtown businesses.
MonsterBash and Fall Fest are held each year thanks to a collaboration between the City of Lowell and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lowell.
The Lowell Bicentennial Committee, which raised about $1 million from private donors for this year’s multifaceted celebrations, sponsored the drone show just months after also sponsoring the City’s largest-ever fireworks display.
This year’s event drew over 6,000 people to downtown Lowell.
“I want to thank everyone who made MonsterBash and Fall Fest possible again this year, in particular the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lowell and the Lowell Bicentennial Committee,” said City Manager Thomas A. Golden, Jr. “It was beautiful to see so many smiling children and adults enjoying the season and experiencing our first drone show. What a spectacular day!”
