Winchester Police Investigating Another House Break, Believed to be Same Suspect Who Struck Winchester and Woburn Homes Last Month
WINCHESTER — Police Chief Kenneth C. Albertelli reports that the Winchester Police Department is investigating another house break, which matches the actions and description of an unknown young man who broke into homes in Woburn and Winchester in September and October.
Early Wednesday morning, Winchester Police responded to a home on Woodside Road for a report of a Breaking and Entering. After talking to the homeowner, who said that she engaged the perpetrator. The resident told police that she had fallen asleep on the couch and woke up to see the suspect standing next to the couch, apparently watching her. She told the suspect to leave, and after a short time, he did.
Last month, after conferring with homeowners in both communities who engaged the suspect, Woburn and Winchester police are confident that the same suspect allegedly broke into the homes in the Horn Pond Area with the intent to commit burglary. Woburn Police Chief Robert J. Ferullo Jr. and Winchester Police Chief Kenneth C. Albertelli are asking anyone who may recognize this individual to come forward.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned Hispanic or light-skinned African American male, approximately 6′ tall, in his early 20s with black marks or possible acne scars on his face. In some instances, he was seen wearing a dirty, light-gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
In Wednesday’s incident, he spoke with a Caribbean accent.
The behavior is the same each time. The suspect breaks into homes in the early morning hours via windows in the first floor or basement. Sometimes the homes are occupied, and police believe he may also have broken into unoccupied homes.
He has not harmed anyone, but police believe his behavior may escalate. Therefore, he should be considered dangerous.
On Friday, the Winchester Police Department was assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing in searching wooded areas for signs of the suspect.
