WHEATON, Md. — Families looking for thrills, treats and a good cause will find all three when the L.E.A.D. Fest Carnival arrives in Wheaton starting this weekend.

Featuring rides, games, food and more, the L.E.A.D. Fest Carnival will be held at the Westfield Wheaton Mall, bringing family-friendly entertainment to the community from Friday, May 15, through Monday, May 25.

Daily hours are 5 to 11 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 3 to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 3 to 11 p.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. Parking is free, while carnival admission is $5 (children under 36 inches are free).

The L.E.A.D. Fest Carnival stop in Wheaton will also feature a Dollar Ride Night on Monday, May 18. On that day, admission is still $5, but all rides are $1 (ride credits are sold on-site in packs of 10).

Proceeds from the carnival will benefit L.E.A.D. and its drug and violence prevention mission, including school-based prevention education programs taught by law enforcement officers.

L.E.A.D. offers an evidence-based drug and violence prevention program that uses fun and interactive lessons to help young people build confidence and make healthy life choices. The program is built on the Botvin LifeSkills® Training curriculum, through which students learn goal-setting, responsible decision-making and emotional management skills.

“The L.E.A.D. Fest Carnival is a wonderful opportunity for families from around the region to enjoy great entertainment while making a real difference for local students,” said Nick DeMauro, Executive Director and CEO of L.E.A.D. “Every dollar raised goes directly toward supporting the law enforcement officers who teach our evidence-based prevention curriculum right here in Maryland and across the nation.”
