WAYLAND — John Guilfoil Public Relations is proud to share the success of its first-ever charity golf tournament, which netted nearly $15,000 after expenses to benefit the Hundred Club of Massachusetts.

On Thursday, Aug. 13, 102 golfers gathered at Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland for a day of friendly competition and fun at the first ever JGPR Charity Golf Tournament.

Proceeds of the tournament were donated to the Hundred Club of Massachusetts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the families and loved ones of fallen active-duty police officers and firefighters.

The shotgun-style scramble tournament featured raffles and contests, including a fire ladder truck ball drop, a $50,000 hole-in-one contest, air cannon, longest drive, closest to the pin and more.

Three lucky winners of the JGPR Celebrity Foursome Online Charity Auction played in the tournament with a local celebrity rounding out their foursome. Celebrity chef and co-owner of Wahlburgers and Alma Nove, Paul Wahlberg; retired Red Sox pitcher and World Series Champion Manny Delcarmen; Hardy, radio host of 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Hardy Show; and Boston National Anthem Singer Todd Angilly participated as celebrity guest golfers and were on-hand for the day.

Prior to tee-off, the Wayland Fire Department provided a ladder truck and extended the ladder over the 9th green. A firefighter dropped over 130 numbered balls, with the winner’s ball going into the bottom of the cup. The winning golfer received a $200 gift card to the Sandy Burr Country Club Pro Shop.

Following the ball drop, Angilly kicked things off by singing the National Anthem before golfers made their way out to the course.

Following the tournament, golfers gathered in the country club for a banquet and raffle hosted by the Hundred Club. Participants won an autographed photo of Drake Maye, Red Sox tickets, Patriots tickets, a Todd Angilly singing experience and more.

“It was a joy to watch our clients, partners, friends and family come together at the first-ever JGPR Charity Golf Tournament to support a great cause and we are planning to make this an annual event,” said company Principal John Guilfoil. “The Hundred Club of Massachusetts is wholly dedicated to supporting the families of fallen firefighters and police officers, and we are grateful to donate the nearly $15,000 from the tournament to help their cause. We wish to thank the golfers and our celebrity guests, as well as Sandy Burr Country Club and all of our generous sponsors for making the day possible.”
