Third Officer and K-9 Recovering from Their Wounds
OGDEN – It is with tremendous sadness that the Utah Chiefs of Police Association mourns the loss of two Tremonton-Garland police officers who were killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic disturbance on Sunday night.
“The law enforcement community stands in mourning following a senseless tragedy and brutal act of violence,” UCOPA President Brad Bishop, Chief of Police in Payson. “We acknowledge the family, friends, loved ones and colleagues of the fallen, and our hearts are with those individuals at this time. We will be with them to support them during this impossibly difficult time.”
The Tremonton-Garland officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call Sunday in a neighborhood in Tremonton. A man emerged from the home, shooting the two officers, and wounding a deputy from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office and a police K-9.
The deputy and police K-9 are recovering from their injuries.
“Law enforcement officers take an oath to protect their communities, and promise to respond anywhere, anytime, putting their lives on their line every day without a second thought. No response is more complex and unpredictable than a domestic violence call, and none creates more potential danger for our officers,” President Bishop said. “Please keep these brave officers and their families in your prayers today. We will never forget their sacrifice.”
