Concord Fire Responds to Train Versus Car Crash at Conant Street Crossing; Driver Sustains Minor Injuries

CONCORD — Fire Chief Thomas Judge reports that the Concord Fire Department responded to a train versus car collision at the Conant Street crossing Sunday evening.

At approximately 7 p.m., Concord Fire received a report of a crash involving an MBTA commuter rail train heading west to Fitchburg. The incident occurred at the Conant Street crossing gate at a low rate of speed.

Firefighters and EMS personnel arrived on the scene and found a single occupant in the vehicle. The individual sustained minor injuries and was transported to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center by Concord Fire EMS with assistance from Pro Ambulance ALS medics.

“We are grateful that this incident did not result in more serious injuries,” said Chief Judge. “Our crews, along with our police and EMS partners, responded quickly to provide care and ensure the scene was secured.”

The incident is being investigated by MBTA Transit Police.
