Canton Fire Department Quickly Extinguishes House Fire

CANTON — Chief Jamie Meier reports that the Canton Fire Department quickly extinguished a house fire on Pecunit Street Tuesday afternoon.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8 at approximately 11:37 a.m., the department responded to a report of a house fire at 48 Pecunit St.

Upon arrival, the shift commander observed flames on the exterior of the house. Firefighters worked quickly to knock down the flames within several minutes.

Residents were not at home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Canton building and electrical inspectors responded to the scene. Eversource utility crews also responded to the scene and assisted with an affected electrical line.

Stoughton, Sharon and Milton Fire Departments provided mutual aid on scene, and Milton and Norwood Fire Departments provided station coverage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Canton Fire Department.
