DOVER — The Dover School District is pleased to share that Dover High School has been named by Special Olympics New Hampshire as a Unified Sports Champion School for the sixth year in a row.
Dover has four Unified Sports teams spread across all three seasons, including soccer, volleyball and two basketball teams.
The Unified Soccer team currently has a 7-0 record and has earned the top seed for the state playoffs.
The Unified Basketball teams will start their seasons this winter, while the Unified Volleyball team begins in the spring.
The volleyball team and one of the basketball teams also recently received sportsmanship recognition from the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association (NHIAA) during the 2025-26 season.
Unified Champion schools embrace strategies and hold events that encourage youth with and without intellectual disabilities to come together as student leaders and athletes, all while promoting inclusion in their school communities. Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools motivate all students to create environments full of respect, dignity and advocacy for students with intellectual disabilities.
Dover High School is scheduled to host its Unified Sports Day on May 19, 2027.
“I am incredibly thrilled to have our school receive this recognition. All of our sports teams exhibit hard work and inclusion as they compete at a D-I level here in our district,” said Athletics Director Joshua Knight. “I am excited to watch our teams grow this coming winter and spring and look forward to our annual Unified Sports Day in May.”
