BURLINGTON — Chief Thomas P. Browne reports that the Burlington Police Department has arrested and charged a Dracut man following two break-ins at local jewelry stores.
CHRISTOPHER LARKIN, 28, of DRACUT, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Breaking and Entering During the Nighttime with Intent to Commit a Felony
- Malicious Destruction of Property Over $1,200
- Larceny Over $1,200
- Possession of a Burglarious Instrument
On Thursday, Sept. 3, at approximately 12:37 a.m., Burlington Police were dispatched to a local jewelry store at 266 Cambridge St. for an activated burglary alarm. Upon arrival, two responding officers observed broken glass and heard an alarm sounding.
Another officer and the shift supervisor were also responding to the call when Burlington Police received a separate report of a motion alarm activated at a different jewelry store at 189 Cambridge St. Those officers rerouted and responded to the store at 189 Cambridge St.
Upon arrival, officers located a man, later identified as LARKIN, attempting to flee on a dirt bike. Through an investigation, LARKIN was identified as the suspect in both break-ins.
LARKIN was arrested without incident. Police later determined that LARKIN also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
During the investigation, Burlington Police searched LARKIN and recovered a backpack containing over $20,000 of stolen jewelry.
LARKIN is scheduled to be arraigned in Woburn District Court on Thursday.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
