Maynard Fire Department Responds to Kitchen Fire at Green Meadow Elementary

MAYNARD — The Maynard Fire Department and Maynard Public Schools report that Maynard Fire responded to and extinguished a kitchen fire at Green Meadow Elementary on Monday.

On Monday, May 18, at 10:21 a.m., Maynard Fire responded to the school at 5 Tiger Drive after staff reported a fire in the kitchen.

Students were safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.

The fire was contained to the kitchen oven.

There were no reported injuries. Students were able to return to class around 11:10 a.m. Lunch alternatives are being provided by the Fowler School to students who were scheduled to have school lunch today.

A preliminary investigation suggests that a fire began while staff were preparing for lunch.

Maynard Fire and Maynard Public Schools would like to thank district staff, faculty, and firefighters for their quick response in mitigating this incident to ensure the safety of all students.

These incidents remain under investigation by the Maynard Fire Department.
