Bourne Intermediate School Host Successful Return of the Bourne PTA’s All Star Revue

BOURNE — Superintendent Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou, Principal Jane Norton and Director Mary Murphy are pleased to announce the successful return of “All Star Revue” at Bourne Intermediate School.

All Star Revue, a collection of musical productions of standard American songs and Broadway show tunes, was held on Feb. 10 and 11 and presented on stage at Bourne High School. Students from Bourne Intermediate School grades 3 through 5 participated in the production.

Approximately 55 students participated in the production and over 70 PTA members, parents and staff, volunteered three months of their time to put together this event.  All Star Revue is an after school extracurricular program that is supported by the Bourne PTA.

All Star Revue, which consists of eight scenes, helps introduce students to theater and the performing arts. Most of the students involved have never participated in theater production before.

“To have been able to bring back the All Star Revue this year after a three-year hiatus was so very special for everyone involved. To have had the support of the entire community and so many volunteers this year, was amazing,” said Director Murphy. “To watch the students work, learn and grow together over the weeks of rehearsals, and then to see the smiles and pride on their faces when they heard the applause, was truly magical.”

This is the first year since the COVID-19 pandemic that Bourne Public Schools have been able to offer All Star Revue to their students. Participating students were given the opportunity to work with peers and learn about theater production and build confidence by stepping out of their comfort zones.

“I am extremely proud of all of the hard work our students put into this, as well as all of our wonderful volunteers,” said Principal Norton. “We are looking forward to being able to host many more productions in the future and I am extremely grateful to the community for their support.”

“I would like to thank all of the BIS performers for their dedication and hard work to bring this incredible show to the stage. Also, we appreciate the work of Ms. Murphy’s creative team, parent, student and staff volunteers for donating their time to this wonderful event,” said Superintendent Quinlan-Zhou. “Our district is committed to bringing our students and our community together to build a stronger relationship between school and family. The Bourne PTA is to be commended for their support and this production was a wonderful way to reconnect through the arts after the pandemic. I am extremely grateful to our community for their support as we worked to bring this project back to Bourne.”
