TYNGSBOROUGH — Congratulations to the following students for being chosen as Students of the Month for April and May 2026. Each of these students has displayed the characteristics of our school’s core values, R.E.A.C.H., by showing Respect, Effort, Accountability, Commitment, and Honesty in their classes and among their peers. These students also reflect Greater Lowell’s mission to ensure students’ readiness for career, college, and citizenship in the 21st century.
April 2026
Giovanna Rodrigues has been selected as Senior Student of the Month. Giovanna is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Robinson Middle School. She is majoring in Health Assisting/PreNursing and maintains a 3.8 GPA. Giovanna pursues a rigorous academic and technical schedule, which includes Dual Enrollment English Composition, Advanced Placement Statistics, Honors Chemistry, and Honors Introduction to Psychology. Giovanna has received awards for honor roll, high honor roll, Special Recognition in Health Assisting, SkillsUSA/Basic Health Care Skills, and Outstanding Achievement in Chemistry. In addition, she is currently enrolled in American Sign Language courses offered through our after-school programs, and has earned the MA Seal of Biliteracy for fluency in Portuguese and English. Giovanna was nominated as a student who embodies our core values of Respect and Commitment. She is described by staff as a dedicated student who consistently exceeds requirements and is a true pleasure to have in class. Following graduation, Giovanna plans to begin her post-secondary education at Middlesex Community College, before transferring to UMass Lowell and pursue a career as a Nurse Practitioner.
Arena Phal has been selected as Junior Student of the Month. Arena is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Butler Middle School. Arena is majoring in Automotive Technology and maintains a 4.0 GPA. She pursues a challenging academic schedule, which includes Advanced Placement English Language and Composition, Honors Algebra 2, and Honors Physics. She has received awards for honor roll and perfect attendance. Arena is a member of SkillsUSA and participates in our Student Ambassador program. Outside of school, Arena is a member of Best Fitness in Lowell and works as a cashier/server at Little Delights Bakery in Lowell. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her cat, Raven. Arena was nominated as a student who demonstrates our core values of Honesty and Accountability. She is described by her technical instructor as a motivated student with strong leadership qualities and a contagious enthusiasm for learning. Following graduation, Arena plans to continue her education and pursue a degree in Radiology.
Sophia Morais has been selected as Sophomore Student of the Month. Sophia is a resident of Dracut and entered Greater Lowell from the Richardson Middle School. Sophia is majoring in Medical Laboratory and Assisting and maintains a 4.12 GPA. She pursues an honors-level schedule, including Honors English 2, Honors Geometry, and Honors Chemistry. In addition, Sophia has completed 6 credits of coursework in Spanish through our after-school language program. She has earned awards for honor roll and high honor roll and is a member of SkillsUSA, Student Council, and our Student Ambassador program. Outside of school, Sophia is employed by Market Basket on Pawtucket Boulevard in Lowell as a cashier and volunteers at a High Pointe House hospice center in Haverhill. Sophia was nominated as a student who represents our core values of Effort and Commitment. She is described as a kind, caring, and respectful student who is dedicated to doing all she can to prepare for her future. Following graduation, Sophia plans to pursue a career in the Healthcare field as a Physician or Nurse Practitioner.
Bayron Cruz Pena has been selected as Freshman Student of the Month. Bayron is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Robinson Middle School. Bayron is pursuing a flexible academic schedule, which includes College Preparatory coursework in English, Biology, and US History, and Honors coursework in Algebra 1 and 2. He has received awards for honor roll. Bayron participates in our athletic program, and is a member of our Freshman Basketball Team and Junior Varsity Baseball Team. He recently completed pre-coursework in all 23 technical areas, including Cosmetology, Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism, and Engineering. While Bayron enjoyed many of his exploratories, he selected Electrical as his major. Bayron was nominated as a student who embraces our Core Values of Effort and Accountability. He is described by his academic instructors as a hardworking student who not only completes his assignments on time but also reviews and revises for improvement. Following graduation, Bayron plans to continue his education to fully develop his skills as a Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Electrician.

Samantha Brady has been selected as Senior Student of the Month. Samantha is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Wang Middle School. She is majoring in Medical Laboratory and Assisting, and maintains a 4.07 GPA. Samantha pursues a rigorous academic and technical schedule, which includes Dual Enrollment English Composition, Early College Precalculus, and Advanced Placement Physics. Samantha has received awards for honor roll, high honor roll, Outstanding Achievement in Physical Education, and Student of the Month (2023). Samantha is a member of the National Honor Society/National Technical Honor Society and serves as a Student Ambassador at school-wide events. She is also Captain of our Greater Lowell Tech Varsity Softball team, where she received the Defensive Standout Award and Coaches Award. Samantha is employed through our cooperative education program as a Medical Assistant at Westford Primary Care. Outside of school, Samantha works at Tyngsboro Sports Center and Stir Martini Bar as a food runner. She was nominated as a student who embodies our core values of Effort and Commitment. She is described by staff as a thoughtful and ambitious student who continuously goes above and beyond in everything she does. Following graduation, Samantha plans to continue her education and pursue a career as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
Sothyda Ky-In has been selected as Junior Student of the Month. Sothyda is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Daley Middle School. Sothyda is majoring in Health Assisting/Pre-Nursing and maintains a 4.27 GPA. She pursues a challenging academic schedule, which includes Early College Precalculus, Honors English, and Honors Anatomy and Physiology. She has received awards for honor roll, perfect attendance, and technical proficiency through SkillsUSA. Sothyda is a member of the Art Club, Environmental Club, Drama Club, and SkillsUSA. She is active in community service, serving as a Student Ambassador at schoolwide events, as well as volunteering at the Wish Project and the Daley Middle School. Sothyda was nominated as a student who demonstrates our core values of Respect and Accountability. She is described by her technical instructor as a confident and prepared student who consistently contributes positively to the classroom and serves as a role model for others. Following graduation, Sothyda plans to continue her education and pursue a career in Nursing.
Iverson has been selected as Sophomore Student of the Month. Iverson is majoring in Information Technology Services and maintains a 4.35 GPA. He pursues an honors-level schedule, including Honors English 2, Honors Geometry, and Honors Chemistry. He has earned awards for honor roll, high honor roll, and Special Recognition in Information Technology. Iverson was nominated as a student who represents our core values of Honesty and Commitment. He is described as a dedicated and collaborative student who regularly exceeds expectations and actively steps up to mentor younger peers, support his teachers, and foster a positive classroom community. Following graduation, Iverson plans to continue his education and pursue a career in Computer Engineering.
Kourtney Patenaude has been selected as Freshman Student of the Month. Kourtney is a resident of Dracut and entered Greater Lowell from the Richardson Middle School. Kourtney is pursuing a flexible academic schedule, which includes College Preparatory coursework in English and Algebra, and Honors-level coursework in US History and Biology. She has received awards for honor roll and maintains a 3.5 GPA. Kourtney participates in our athletic program as a member of our award-winning Greater Lowell Varsity Cheer Team. She recently completed pre-coursework in all 23 technical areas, including Veterinary Science, Plumbing, and Culinary Arts. Kourtney initially intended to major in Medical Laboratory & Assisting, but through the exploratory process, ultimately chose Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) as her technical major. Outside of school, she is employed at Walker’s Gymnastics and Locals Diner. Kourtney was nominated as a student who embraces our Core Values of Effort and Respect. She is described by her instructor as an exemplary student whose positive attitude, commitment to learning, and collaborative nature set her apart from her peers. Kourtney is still considering her post-graduation options. She may choose to pursue a career in her trade or apply her transferable technical skills and continue her education in the healthcare field.
