Town of Bridgewater Invites Residents to Public Forum on Open Space and Recreation Plan Update

BRIDGEWATER — Town officials invite residents to help guide the future of parks, recreation areas and conservation land as Bridgewater updates its Open Space and Recreation Plan.

The Town of Bridgewater will host a public forum on Thursday, April 16, at 6 p.m. at Dana Mohler-Faria Science and Mathematics Center, Room DMF 120, on the campus of Bridgewater State University.

The meeting will give residents an opportunity to identify open space and recreation needs and help shape the Town’s priorities and goals for the next decade. Community feedback gathered at the forum will help shape Bridgewater’s updated Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP).

Bridgewater’s OSRP outlines the Town’s goals, policies and strategies for the preservation, development and management of open space and recreational resources. The plan plays a crucial role in establishing goals and priorities that guide sustainable development and enhance residents’ quality of life. It also makes the Town of Bridgewater eligible for various state-funded grants.

“All residents are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts about the future of open space and recreation in Bridgewater,” said Town Planner Shane O’Brien. “Community input is an important part of the planning process to make sure the plan represents the needs and priorities of the people who live here.”

Visitor parking will be available in the West Campus lot at Bridgewater State University. The location is also accessible via the MBTA Commuter Rail and Bridgewater Area Transit Authority Flex service.

Light refreshments will be served.

Residents who cannot attend the forum are encouraged to follow updates on the Town’s Open Space and Recreation Plan webpage. Questions or comments may be directed to O’Brien by email at sobrien@bridgewaterma.org.
