RYE — Town Administrator Matthew Scruton is pleased to announce that Rye Public Health Officer Gail Snow, MD, received a Lifetime of Service Award from the New Hampshire Health Officers Association this week.
On Tuesday, Oct. 25, in Concord, the New Hampshire Health Officers Association held its Fall Workshop and Annual Meeting, which included presenting awards to distinguished health officers from around the state.
Dr. Snow was nominated for the award last month for serving the Town of Rye for 37 years, starting her career here in 1985.
The Lifetime of Service Award recognizes those who have demonstrated a long-term commitment to local public health and made a positive contribution to their local community. The awards are voted by the board of the New Hampshire Health Officers Association.
“I know Gail to be 100% committed to the citizens of Rye. She consistently shows this whether addressing long-term issues such as failing septic systems in our low-lying areas, kitchen complaints or simply performing her regular inspections,” Fire Chief Mark Cotreau wrote in a nomination. “During the recent pandemic, Dr. Snow correctly assessed the potential workload needed to properly manage Rye’s portion of the crisis. She also had the leadership to advocate for two deputy health officer positions to bolster our operational capability. She is a selfless leader who cares only for the health and welfare of the residents and visitors to Rye.”

Select Board Chair Philip D. Winslow said: “It has been a pleasure working with Dr. Snow. She has always served the constituents of Rye in a thoughtful and professional manner. It is wonderful to see her efforts being publicly recognized.”
