LITTLETON – Town Administrator Anthony Ansaldi and Police Chief Matthew Pinard wish to provide the following statement:
“Yesterday, Derek Chauvin was rightly convicted of George Floyd’s murder, and a partial form of justice was served for Chauvin’s heinous actions last May. However, It cannot be changed that a man lost his life, nor that others like Chauvin have dodged accountability for their own actions due to a flawed criminal justice system.
“While Chauvin’s crimes in no way reflect the genuine good that most police officers do day in and day out, we know that we have a long way to go, and a lot of work to do, to address the systemic racism that has led us to this moment.
“The men and women of the Littleton Police Department are committed to working toward a future where no lives are lost because an officer fails his most basic duty, and disregards the sanctity of human life. We will continue working tirelessly earn and maintain the trust of our entire community. We’ll achieve that through transparency, accountability and equitable treatment for all, and we are eager to continue partnering with our community to ensure that goal is met.”
