ACTON — Lt. Christopher Hodges was sworn in as the new Deputy Chief of the Acton Police Department last week, placing an experienced, professional, and dedicated supervisor into a critical leadership role.
Deputy Chief Hodges joined the Acton Police Department in 2016. His law enforcement career began in 2004 when he joined the Manchester Police Department in Connecticut, and rose to the rank of sergeant and acting lieutenant.
In his time with Acton Police, Deputy Chief Hodges earned promotions to sergeant and lieutenant, and took on several major leadership roles within the department.
Deputy Chief Hodges led the department’s Body-Worn Camera Program development, worked to get grant funding, and then spearheaded successful efforts to launch the program. He also established the Acton Public Safety Peer Support Team and worked with department administrators to modernize the scheduling system.
He has worked in Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and Administrative Divisions of the department, and served as a supervisor in all three roles. Deputy Chief Hodges holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from UMass Amherst, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Anna Maria College. He is also a graduate of the prestigious FBI-LEEDA Law Enforcement Executive Development Trilogy.
In his role as Deputy Chief, he will oversee daily department operations, support staff, and help shape the future of the department.
“I am confident that Deputy Chief Hodges will navigate this transition smoothly and uphold the highest standards of leadership, fairness, and professional integrity throughout our department as he takes on this critical leadership role,” said Chief Douglas Sturniolo. “Chris has consistently led with a personal commitment to supporting our staff and a strong dedication to officer wellness. I look forward to working closely alongside him as we move into this next chapter.”
