NORWOOD — General Manager Tony Mazzucco is pleased to announce the plans for a new kind of Norwood Day that will take place this weekend.
On Saturday, Nov. 28, community members are encouraged to do the following:
- Eat something local: Try a new restaurant in Norwood, revisit the same place you love, or a mix of both. Our restaurants need our support this winter to survive, and we want them to be here in the spring.
- Shop something local: Buy something for yourself or a gift for someone you know. Buy a gift card to a local restaurant or retail store.
- Wear something local: Spend the day in your Norwood Mustang gear or gear supporting a local business or organization.
- Do good locally: Give to a local charity like the food pantry or a civic group like Rotary or your PTO.
“Norwood Day is always such a great event for the community, so we were disappointed when we had to cancel it for health and safety reasons this year,” General Manager Mazzucco said. “We encourage everyone to participate in this new version of Norwood Day to help support and recognize the local businesses and organizations that are such an integral part of the community.”
Community members are encouraged to post online reviews of the local establishments that they visit on Saturday. In addition, those who participate are invited to share their photos on social media using the hashtags #wevegotthisnorwood, #thisfallshopsmallnorwood, #norwoodday2020 and #norwoodrocks.
People who share photos online of their participation in Norwood Day 2020 with the hashtag #norwoodday2020 can get a special edition Norwood Day 2020 button, which can be used for admission to Norwood Day 2021. Many local businesses will also have buttons available.
Norwood Day is usually held annually in September and features family activities such as live local entertainment, games, prizes, sidewalk sales and more. As the traditional Norwood Day event usually brings more than 10,000 people to the town, the event was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
