CHELMSFORD — Chief James M. Spinney is pleased to announce that the Chelmsford Police Department will once again host a Fill-A-Cruiser event to benefit Toys for Tots this year.
WHEN:
Saturday, Dec. 5 starting at 9 a.m.
WHERE:
Walmart, 66 Parkhurst Road
WHAT:
The Chelmsford Police Department invites the community to fill one of its cruisers with gifts to benefit Toys for Tots, and provide kids in need with gifts of their own this holiday season.
Residents are asked to contribute new, unwrapped toys for children ages infant to 16. This year, the department hopes to collect and donate at least 3,000 toys.
This is the eighth year that the department has taken part in the event. It has been organized each year by Sgt. Stephen Fredericks. Approximately 3,000 toys were collected at last year’s drive.
Residents are encouraged to wear a mask or face covering, and to practice social distancing when dropping off their items to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
“We are excited to once again host this incredible event to help give back to our community,” Chief Spinney said. “Thank you to Sgt. Fredericks for all this work organizing this event for the last few years and for those who have helped to make this program an overwhelming success each year. These gifts, no matter how small, can help bring joy to local children and families this holiday season.”
Toys for Tots was founded by the U.S. Marine Corps in 1947 to donate toys to kids who are less fortunate during the holiday season. For more information on the Toys for Tots program, visit the foundation’s website.
