NEW LONDON, N.H. — Superintendent Winfried Feneberg and Principal Christine Downing are pleased to share a video showcasing a typical day at school for students at Sutton Central Elementary School to help highlight the successful start of the school year.

The video aims to give families and community members greater insight into how students’ learning has adapted amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The video will be shared on the Sutton Central Elementary School website.
“Prior to the start of the school year, we put a significant amount of thought into what the school day would look like to ensure we are protecting the health and safety of our staff, students and their families,” Principal Downing said. “We’ve found our new patterns and routines, and students are doing a great job adapting to the changes, such as wearing masks and practicing social distancing.”
Students throughout the district this year have been separated into two groups where they participate in live, remote classes either at school or at home. As a result, all students are taking part, whether in a school facility or at home, in synchronous learning with their teachers and peers.
Students in kindergarten, first, third and fifth grade are shown participating in classroom activities with their peers who are learning remotely from home; enjoying a lunch and mask break; and playing outdoors during recess.

“This year has been unlike any other, but our young students are continuing to thrive,” Superintendent Feneberg said. “Our teachers have gone above and beyond to provide our students with the best possible learning experience whether they be learning at home or in the classroom, and these videos are a great way to highlight those efforts.”
