Maynard Fire Department Receives Donation of Personal Protective Equipment

MAYNARD — Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Anthony Stowers would like to thank residents for their donation of personal protective equipment to the Maynard Fire Department.

The donated items include latex gloves from a resident and 120 N-95 masks from Acacia Communications.

First responders will use the equipment to protect them from exposure to the virus as they respond to calls involving people who may be reporting symptoms in line with COVID-19 or may have been in contact with a positive COVID-19 case. As the virus continues to spread, the department aims to keep personnel healthy to continue to serve the community.

“We are incredibly grateful for these donations, especially during this unique time where getting this vital and necessary equipment can delayed,” said Chief Stowers. “Each donation goes a long way towards helping to keep both first responders and the community they serve safe  during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The donation will be issued to fire personnel as needed as the COVID-19 situation continues to develop.

Those looking to donate supplies — such as hand sanitizer, masks, goggles, protective gowns and thermometers — to the department should call ahead of time to set up an appointment to drop off the supplies. The business line for the Maynard Fire Department is 978-897-1014.
