Rochester Residents Invited to Attend Events Featuring Gov. Sununu and New Hampshire Executive Council

ROCHESTER — City Manager Blaine Cox is pleased to announce that community leaders will showcase and recognize various projects in Rochester next week during a special visit from Gov. Chris Sununu and the New Hampshire Executive Council.

• Advanced Technology and Academic Center, 5 Milton Lane, Suite 32 (8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.)
• Rochester Opera House, 31 Wakefield St. (10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
• City Hall Annex, 33 Wakefield St. (12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.)

WHAT:

Gov. Sununu and the New Hampshire Executive Council will visit three location in Rochester, beginning with a breakfast ceremony where leaders will recognize the contributions of Safran and Albany to the community.

The breakfast session will also feature presentations from Advanced Technology and Academic Center (ATAC) leaders as well as administrators from Spaulding High School and R.W. Creteau Technology Center, who will discuss the critical importance of technical and career based educations.

Following a tour of the ATAC, the group will move on to the Rochester Opera House for a program that will include presentations from Fire Chief Mark Klose and Police Chief Paul Toussaint, a poetry reading by poet laureate Katie O’Connor, a musical duet by Eloise and Madeline Ellis, students from the Rochester Performance and Art Center. Finally, Matt Wyatt, founder of Rochester Museum of Fine Art and Chair of the Arts & Culture Commission, will accept a proclamation from Gov. Sununu for his many years of dedicated volunteerism in the City of Rochester.

The Executive Council will then hold its regularly scheduled public meeting, before transitioning to lunch at the City Hall Annex, where members of the public are invited to meet the governor and council and learn about Rochester’s ongoing economic development efforts from Economic Development Manager Karen Pollard.

“I am very much looking forward to welcoming the governor and executive council to Rochester so they can see the incredible things happening in our community,” City Manager Cox said. “This is a rare and exciting opportunity for residents to meet state leaders and celebrate the shared successes we’ve had as a city.”

The executive council shares the responsibility of overseeing the administration of state affairs, serves as a watchdog over the state treasury and takes an active role in advising the governor on appointments to the New Hampshire Supreme Court, the office of attorney general and various state agencies, boards and commissions.
