RAYNHAM — The Raynham Police Department arrested a Bridgewater man on firearm and drug charges following a motor vehicle stop on Saturday night.
RYAN O’DAY, 36, of BRIDGEWATER, was arrested and charged with:
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
- Possession of Ammunition
- Possession of a Class A Drug
- Possession of a Class B Drug
Over the weekend, while investigating an unrelated incident at a local hotel, Raynham Police received information that O’DAY was in possession of a 9mm handgun.
On Saturday, Aug. 1, at about 10:30 p.m., Officer Daniel Kelly located a vehicle registered to O’DAY at a gas station on Broadway. After officers conducted surveillance, they stopped the vehicle on Route 138 after observing it had a defective license plate light.
During the motor vehicle stop, officers learned that neither the woman driving the car nor O’DAY had a valid driver’s license. They were detained during the investigation.
When O’DAY was removed from the vehicle, a crack pipe fell from his lap. During a subsequent search, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun from a bag in the trunk, along with a holster, drug paraphernalia, and suspected fentanyl and crack cocaine.
O’DAY is expected to be arraigned Monday in Taunton District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
