Littleton Police Charge Concord Man with Assault and Battery, OUI, in Road Rage Incident

Second Drunk Driving Offense for Man, 28

LITTLETON — Police Chief Matthew J. King announces that a Concord man was arrested Monday night after a road rage incident on Great Road (Rt. 119).

THOMAS FLYNN, AGE 28, OF CONCORD was charged with:

  • OUI Liquor, Second Offense
  • Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle
  • Marked Lanes Violation
  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a Felony
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor vehicle

On Monday, at 6:10 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of road rage in progress, where the driver of a green Volkswagen Jetta was reportedly intoxicated and making threatening gestures at another driver with a knife.

Police found the Jetta on King Street near the on-ramp to I-495 Southbound and pulled it over. The operator, later identified as FLYNN started yelling at police with slurred speech. Police noticed a strong odor of alcohol from the vehicle. FLYNN refused to perform field sobriety tests and began yelling at the two officers on scene, claiming to be a “combat veteran” and a “trained killer” and threatening to kill one of the officer’s children.

Police saw, in plain view on the passenger side of the car, a 12-pack of Bud Light Lime-a-Ritas.

FLYNN was arrested and transported to Littleton Police Headquarters were he was unable to make bail last night. He was arraigned today in Ayer District Court.
