Dighton Residents Invited to Attend ‘Lights On’ Holiday Celebration
DIGHTON — The Dighton Holiday Committee would like to invite residents to attend the annual Lights On holiday celebration later this month.
WHEN:
Saturday, Nov. 30 at 3:30 p.m.
WHERE:
Dighton Town Hall, 979 Somerset Ave.
WHAT:
The Dighton Holiday Committee hosts the annual Lights On event each year to celebrate the start of the holiday season.
The event is family friendly and free to attend.
Activities featured at the event include: story time with Mrs. Claus, performances by Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School music and marching band ensembles and the Dighton Elementary School Chorus, caroling and a parade before the official Lights On tree lighting. Attendees can take hayrides around the track and kids will be able to meet and take photos with Santa.
Hot cocoa, coffee, hot dogs, popcorn and cake will be available at no cost and while supplies last.
The Dighton Community Food Bank will be accepting donations at the event.
State Senator Mark Pacheco, State Representative Patricia Haddad, Bristol County District Attorney Tom Quinn and Dighton town officials, including the Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator Mallory Aronstein, will also be in attendance.
The holiday committee would like to thank Dighton’s Dunkin’ and Araujo Farm for donating supplies for the event, and Dighton Lions Club, Dighton Police and Fire Departments and the Dighton Highway Department for their assistance with the event.
“Lights On is a great, family-friendly celebration to kickoff the holiday season in our community,” Holiday Committee member Sue Medeiros said. “It has been wonderful to see this small-town event become a holiday tradition in the near 25 years it’s been held. The holiday committee has enjoyed watching it grow through the years and we would like to thank the town departments, local businesses and community groups who help us make Lights On a success each year.”
