NORTHBOROUGH — Police Chief Brian Griffin reports that the Northborough Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a Northborough Police cruiser and a bicycle.
On Tuesday, Aug. 25, at approximately 3:15 p.m, the Northborough Police Department responded to the intersection of Main and River streets for reports of a motor vehicle crash involving a juvenile riding a bicycle.
A preliminary investigation determined that the cruiser was exiting a parking lot on Main Street when the cruiser and bicycle collided.
The bicyclist, an 11-year-old boy, was transported by Northborough Fire EMS to an area hospital with injuries that are believed to be minor. The juvenile was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash.
The officer was transported to an area hospital by Northborough Fire out of an abundance of caution.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CMLEC) Accident Reconstruction Team.
