AVON — The Avon Police Department is actively investigating reported gunshots in the vicinity of Connolly Road Monday night.
Around 10:41 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12, the Holbrook Regional Emergency Communication Center received a report from an area resident who reported hearing what sounded like gunshots in the area of Connolly Road.
Avon Police officers responded and subsequently recovered a number of shell casings from the area of Overlook and Connolly roads.
The preliminary investigation indicates area residents observed a red sedan traveling west on Connolly Road at the time of the incident. The vehicle was last seen turning from Connolly Road north onto East Main Street.
The incident is under investigation by the Avon Police Department.
Avon Police are seeking assistance from area residents who may have heard or observed anything that may be related to this incident. Police are also requesting that residents check their home security cameras for anything suspicious.
“We take all reports of gunfire in town very seriously,” said Avon Police Chief Jeffrey J. Bukunt. “We’re asking all residents in the vicinity to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity they may have witnessed, or evidence possibly captured on home security video surveillance.”
