NORTON — Chief Shawn Simmons and the Norton Fire Department are pleased to announce the addition of three new Firefighter/EMTs.
Ethan Cameron, Joshua Bumpus and Jazmin Lacy were sworn in Monday, Dec. 1.
Firefighter/EMT Cameron, an Attleboro native and resident, is a retired U.S. Marine Corps E4/E5. His father is retired Attleboro District Fire Chief Ron Cameron. Ethan’s brothers are also firefighters. Kyle is a fellow Norton firefighter, and Mitch is an Attleboro firefighter.
Firefighter/EMT Bumpus, a Berkley native and Dighton resident, is a Sergeant in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, having served for six years.
Firefighter/EMT Lacy, a Taunton native and current Somerset resident, served in the U.S. Navy from 2013-2019. She reached the rank of Nuclear Machinist Mate 1st Class and served onboard CVN-71 USS Theodore Roosevelt.
The recruits have each started a four-week daytime orientation and will be assigned to a shift upon completion. They will all receive paramedic training, a Norton Fire Department job requirement, once they graduate from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA) this summer.
“These three new recruits are each stellar candidates for service in the Norton Fire Department,” said Chief Simmons. “They have strong military backgrounds, which shows that their core values line up with the Department’s mission to protect life and property in our community. Please join me in welcoming Jazmin, Joshua and Ethan to the Norton Fire Department.”
