BILLERICA — Three Billerica Police officers played the role of Santa’s helpers in the past week, delivering Amazon packages they found in the street while on patrol.
On Tuesday, Nov. 25, at approximately 8:10 p.m., Officer Samuel Hawkes was on proactive patrol when he saw eight packages in the middle of the road in an area behind Towne Plaza, 700 Boston Road.
Officer Hawkes and Officer Matthew Irwin noticed that all packages were intended for Billerica addresses, so they delivered the packages to their intended destinations, while ensuring nothing was missing.
The officers also noticed Amazon of the incident.
On Tuesday, Dec. 2, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Officer Thomas Huff was on proactive patrol in the area of the 129 Plaza, 258 Salem Road, when he also discovered eight Amazon packages scattered on the ground.
All boxes were still sealed and addressed to Billerica residents. Officer Huff also delivered the eight packages to their intended recipients and ensured that nothing was missing.
Officer Huff also notified Amazon.
“These two incidents really highlight the care that Billerica Police officers put into their jobs, whether they are responding to a major emergency, or just ensuring that residents get lost packages during the holiday season,” said Chief Frost. “I am proud of these three officers.”
