TEWKSBURY — Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department responded to a fatal crash on Sunday night.
On Sunday, Nov. 30, at about 9:33 p.m., Tewksbury Police were dispatched to the area of Main Street underneath the Route 495 overpass for reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Officers arrived on scene and observed a heavily damaged grey SUV resting on its side, lodged against the bridge.
Tewksbury Fire extracted the driver and sole occupant of the motor vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead on scene by Lowell General Hospital paramedics.
The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Middlesex District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene and are assisting Tewksbury Police with the investigation into the crash. The investigation is active and ongoing, but preliminary findings suggest the driver suffered a medical issue prior to the crash.
Additional inquiries should be directed to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
