MEDWAY — Superintendent Dr. Armand Pires and Medway High School Principal Dr. John J. Murray are proud to announce that Medway High School senior Allyson Fagan has been selected as the district’s recipient of the 2025-26 Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents Award for Academic Excellence.
Allyson was formally recognized at the Medway School Committee meeting on Nov. 13.
Each year, superintendents who are members of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents (M.A.S.S.) may present this distinguished award to high-achieving students who demonstrate exemplary academic performance, leadership and service to their school communities.
The M.A.S.S. criteria for candidates to receive the award includes the following requirements:
- The student’s cumulative academic average must place them in the top 5% of their class.
- The student must consistently demonstrate leadership, social responsibility, respect for others and meaningful involvement in both the school and community.
- The student must be a high school senior.
Nominees are recommended by Principal Murray.
Allyson, who is among the highest-achieving students in the Class of 2026, has excelled across a rigorous academic program. She has completed nine Advanced Placement courses and holds an unweighted GPA of 4.0211 and a weighted GPA of 6.7842.
Beyond her academic success, Allyson is known at Medway High School as a dedicated, compassionate and multi-talented student leader.
A gifted vocalist, Allyson advanced through the school’s music program and earned a place in the Massachusetts All-State Choir. She plays a leading role in Medway’s chorus and theater programs and is an active member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the International Thespian Society, the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society.
Allyson also serves as Vice President and primary anchor for the school’s Newswatch club, where she was recently named Member of the Year for her inclusive and collaborative leadership.
On the field, Allyson has been a starting player for Medway Softball since her freshman year and she earned the distinction of being a two-time Tri-Valley League All-Star Honorable Mention.
In addition to her academic and athletic accomplishments, Allyson is recognized for her compassion and service to others. She is an enthusiastic Peer Counselor at Medway High School, helping freshmen and other incoming students to adjust to their new surroundings. Allyson also tutors middle school students in mathematics, coaches a youth softball team and volunteers at school music events.
Superintendent Pires and Principal Murray congratulate Allyson on this well-deserved honor.
“Allyson represents the very best of Medway High School,” said Principal Murray. “Her academic accomplishments are remarkable on their own, but what sets her apart is her leadership, her kindness, and her commitment to uplifting others. She embodies the values we hope to foster in all of our students, and we are incredibly proud to recognize her with this award.”
“Leading with empathy and purpose while also achieving so much academically, students like Allyson exemplify the well-rounded excellence that we strive for at Medway Public Schools,” said Superintendent Pires. “Congratulations to Allyson and to everyone else who helped her along the way to achieve this. We look forward to seeing how Allyson and all of our outstanding seniors continue to achieve during their academic journey and throughout the rest of their lives.”
