CONCORD — Assistant Chief Brian Whitney reports that the Concord Fire Department and its mutual aid partners battled a blaze late Thursday and early Friday at a small home.
Firefighters received a call alerting them of a fire at 36 Cottage Lane just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan 30. Upon arrival crews encountered heavy fire throughout the structure. Concord firefighters stretched out multiple lines to attack the blaze.
It took almost two hours to knock down the heavy fire. A portion of Route 62 was closed during the fire.
“The cold weather certainly made this a challenging situation.” Assistant Chief Whitney said. “I’d like to thank our firefighters for their quick response and hard work in getting the fire under control.”
The occupant of the home was not injured, nor were any firefighters.
The Concord Fire Department received on-scene mutual aid from Acton, Bedford, Lexington, Lincoln, Sudbury and Wayland. Crews from Hanscom Air Force Base and Boxborough provided station coverage.
The fire remains under investigation by the Concord Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
