MANSFIELD – Superintendent Teresa Murphy and Principal Russ Booth are pleased to announce that Mansfield High School junior Myles Brown has been selected for a one-year appointment to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association’s (MIAA) Student Advisory Committee for the 2024-2025 school year.
Myles is a three-sport standout for the Hornets, including a two-time Hockomock League All-Star for winter track.
“Myles epitomizes what it means to be a student-athlete. He doesn’t just work hard on the field, but he is also a leader in the classroom,” said Principal Booth. “We are confident he will bring the same thoughtful approach and positive attitude to the MIAA Student Advisory Committee.”
The Committee consists of students from the New England Student Leadership Conference (NESLC) as well as student-athletes from the MIAA Student Ambassador program. Committee members attend seasonal meetings with the MIAA’s Educational Athletics Committee, help facilitate leadership workshops for students and team captains, participate in various MIAA activities and provide continual feedback from the perspective of student-athletes.
Myles, who is finishing up his junior year, has been a member of the football, winter track and spring track teams for Mansfield High all three years.
In addition to being a two-time league all-star for winter track, Myles was also named Hockomock League All-Star for spring track his sophomore year and may again obtain the honor this year. He was also named Most Improved Player on the JV football team in his sophomore year.
Off the field, Myles is a World of Difference Peer Leader and hosted the “Jamaican Table” at Mansfield High’s Culture Night this year.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as a leader on this committee and I’m looking forward to being the voice for both Mansfield’s and other school’s student athletes,” Brown said.
The MIAA approves and sponsors athletic activities in 35 sports involving more than 230,000 student-athletes attending 385 public and private member schools.
