SWANSEA — Veteran’s Services Director Kevin Serpa and Town Administrator Mallory Aronstein wish to invite community members to celebrate the Town of Swansea’s Memorial Day ceremony and parade.
On Saturday, May 25, at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Green on Gardners Neck Road, the Town of Swansea will host a Memorial Day ceremony to honor those who lost their lives in service to our country is sponsored by the American Legion Post #303, VFW Post #2045 and Swansea Veterans Services.
The ceremony will include a traditional wreath placing and a Color Guard ceremony by the Police Honor Guard and Fire Honor Guard, followed by remarks from local and state leaders, including Representative Patricia Haddad, Selectman Robert Medeiros and EMA Director Carl Sawejko.
There will also be refreshments following the ceremony at the VFW Post #2045, on 130 Main St.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the American Legion Post #303, at 73 Ocean Grove Ave.
On Monday, May 27, at 1 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church on 530 Gardners Neck Road, there will be a Memorial Day parade. The parade will travel in its traditional route, which is through Ocean Grove and along Gardners Neck Road.
The Town of Swansea invites all Veterans to march in the parade and display the continuation of patriotism from all generations. Those interested in participating in the parade may call Veteran Services at (508)-676-1831 to coordinate.
