Attleboro Police Arrest City Man on Drug Charges Following Attempted Vehicle Stop and Foot Pursuit

ATTLEBORO — Attleboro Police arrested a city man on multiple drug charges following an attempted motor vehicle stop and subsequent foot pursuit on Thursday morning.
Attleboro Police seized approximately 6.2 ounces of psylocibin mushrooms, 194 THC “vape” cartridges, seven bags of marijuana gummy edibles, a jar containing 2 pounds 6.5 ounces of marijuana, over $1,000 in cash, two cellular phones and digital scales from a city man who attempted to evade a traffic stop. ATTLEBORO — Attleboro Police arrested a city man on multiple drug charges following an attempted motor vehicle stop and subsequent foot pursuit on Thursday morning.

On Thursday, July 9, at approximately 11:20 a.m., Attleboro Police Officer Michael Seibold attempted to stop a Nissan Sentra driven by a man with a suspended license on West Street.

The operator of the vehicle, later identified as KEYSHAWN JOHNSON, 28, of ATTLEBORO, attempted to evade the officer by turning off West Street onto adjoining side streets, ultimately stopping on Ashton Road before exiting the vehicle.

He then attempted to flee on foot, failing to comply with the officer’s commands to stop. A brief foot pursuit ensued, but the officer was quickly able to catch up to JOHNSON.

Once caught, JOHNSON refused to comply with the officer’s attempts to place him into handcuffs and take him into custody. JOHNSON continued to resist arrest, physically pulling away from the officer. At this point, the officer deployed pepper spray. The pepper spray worked and JOHNSON was handcuffed and taken into custody.

A subsequent inventory of the vehicle JOHNSON was driving revealed that he was in possession of approximately 6.2 ounces of psylocibin mushrooms, 194 THC “vape” cartridges, seven bags of marijuana gummy edibles, a jar containing 2 pounds 6.5 ounces of marijuana, over $1,000 in cash, two cellular phones and digital scales.

As a result of this incident, JOHNSON has been charged with the following:

  • Operating with a Suspended License (subsequent offense)
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Substances (three counts — one each for marijuana, THC cartridges and THC gummies)
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Class C Substance (mushrooms)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Disturbing the Peace

Johnson was ultimately transported to the Attleboro Police Station, where he was booked on the above charges.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
