TOWNSEND — Chief James Sartell is pleased to announce the formation of the Townsend Police Department’s new motorcycle unit.
The unit will consist of Sgt. Jeffrey Giles, Officer Michael Marchand, and Officer Dan Marshall. Both Sgt. Giles and Officer Marshall have completed motorcycle school. Officer Marchand is scheduled to attend motorcycle school this Fall.
The creation of the motorcycle unit was made possible through the donation of a motorcycle from Harbor Auto Body, a Townsend auto body shop committed to supporting local public safety initiatives.
Motorcycle units provide officers with increased mobility, allowing for more effective traffic enforcement, quicker response in congested areas, and enhanced visibility within the community.
“I would like to thank Harbor Auto Body for their generous donation, which made this unit possible,” said Chief Sartell. “This motorcycle unit will strengthen our ability to enforce traffic laws, improve roadway safety, and engage with residents in a more visible and approachable way. I’m proud of the officers who have taken on this role and look forward to the positive impact this unit will have in our community.”
The Townsend Police Department remains committed to serving the community and believes this new unit will be a valuable asset in advancing public safety efforts.
