Ludlow Police Arrest Naked Man Who Attacked Man and His Dog on River Walk

Ludlow Police arrested a nude man who attacked a dog walker and his pit bull on Sunday morning.

LUDLOW — The Ludlow Police Department responded to the River Walk for a report of a nude man threatening a dog walker at 9:21 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Four Ludlow Patrol Officers responded to the River Walk and found the suspect; nude as reported. Officers took him into custody without incident.

A victim at the scene reported the man threatened violence with a weapon, attacked both he and his dog, and also picked up and choked the dog, a full-grown pitbull.

The suspect was later identified as ALEXANDER MARANO, AGE 34, of LUDLOW.

Ludlow Police called K-9 Striker and handler Officer Geovanny Da Costa to the scene to conduct an extensive article search of the area. No weapons were found at the scene.

MARANO was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Threat to Use a Deadly Weapon
  • Assault and Battery
  • Open and Gross Lewdness
  • Indecent Exposure
  • Cruelty to Animals

Ludlow Fire Department also responded to the scene. MARANO was evaluated by paramedics, but he refused medical treatment.

MARANO was transported to the Hamden County Correctional Center in Ludlow.

The victim and the dog did not suffer serious injuries.

“Our officers handled this difficult situation with compassion and professionalism,” said Ludlow Police Chief Michael Brennan. “They followed their training, took the suspect into custody without violence, and no one involved in this incident suffered serious injuries.”

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
