PARAMUS, N.J. — Families looking for thrills, treats and a good cause will find all three when the L.E.A.D. Fest Carnival arrives in Paramus starting this weekend.
Featuring rides, games, food and more, the L.E.A.D. Fest Carnival will be held at the Westfield Garden State Plaza, located at 1 Garden State Plaza Parkway in Paramus, bringing family-friendly entertainment to the community from Thursday, May 21, through Sunday, June 7. The Paramus L.E.A.D. Fest Carnival will be open from 5 to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 3 to 11 p.m. on weekends and the Memorial Day holiday. The carnival will be closed on May 26, June 1, and June 2.
Carnival admission is $5 (children under 36 inches are free). Any child under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult after 8 p.m.; no backpacks are allowed into the carnival; and no face coverings are allowed (religious exemptions provided). Children must be 36 inches tall to go on most of the rides.
Proceeds from the carnival will benefit L.E.A.D. and its drug and violence prevention mission, including school-based prevention education programs taught by law enforcement officers.
L.E.A.D. offers an evidence-based drug and violence prevention program that uses fun and interactive lessons to help young people build confidence and make healthy life choices. The program is built on the Botvin LifeSkills® Training curriculum, through which students learn goal-setting, responsible decision-making and emotional management skills.
“Our L.E.A.D. Fest Carnival in Paramus is a wonderful opportunity for families from around the region to enjoy great entertainment while making a real difference for local students,” said Nick DeMauro, Executive Director and CEO of L.E.A.D. “Every dollar raised goes directly toward supporting the law enforcement officers who teach our evidence-based prevention curriculum right here in New Jersey and across the nation.”
“My entire career, I have been involved with the schools in our community, teaching various safety lessons and doing community outreach,” said Capt. James Teehan, of the Paramus Police Department. “By far my best interaction has been with the L.E.A.D. Program. The L.E.A.D. Fest helps support our prevention program in the schools while giving us a fun event to interact with the community.”
