GROTON, CT — The Town of Groton Police Department asks motorists to expect road closures and traffic congestion on Monday, May 25, in the Noank and downtown Mystic areas, coinciding with two planned Memorial Day parades.
The Noank Memorial Day Parade has been scheduled for Monday morning, followed by the afternoon Mystic Memorial Day Parade.
The following Noank roads will be closed starting at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 25, and will remain closed until shortly after the parade concludes:
- Elm Street — from Brook Street to Prospect Hill Road
- The Noank Village area — including Mosher Avenue, Ward Avenue, Main Street, Pearl Street, High Street and Sylvan Street
The following Mystic roads will be closed starting at approximately 12:30 p.m., on Monday, May 25, and will remain closed until approximately 30 minutes after parade concludes:
- West Main Street — from the Drawbridge to High Street
- Water Street — from West Main Street to New London Road
- Pearl Street — from West Main Street to Clift Street
- Gravel Street — from West Main Street to Clift Street
Moderate traffic conditions are anticipated in and around the Noank and downtown Mystic areas before, during, and after the parade.
“The Groton Town Police Department would also like to extend our wishes for everyone to have a safe Memorial Day Weekend,” said Chief L.J. Fusaro Jr.
