BOSTON — The Gloucester Fire Department honor guard was privileged to present the nation’s colors at Fenway Park last week as the Boston Red Sox took on the Philadelphia Phillies.

On Thursday, May 14, the Gloucester Fire Department Honor Guard stood in front of the Green Monster and presented the colors during pregame ceremonies.

The Gloucester Fire Department Honor Guard was formed in 2002 to ensure fallen and retired firefighters receive the honor and dignity they deserve at their funeral services. The Honor Guard also presents the colors at other important City and department events.

Earlier this year, the Honor Guard was also invited to the TD Garden as part of an ongoing effort by the Boston Celtics to recognize local police and fire honor guards.

Honor Guard members were proud to present the colors at one of baseball’s most historic venues.

Members who participated are Honor Guard Commander Firefighter David Elwell, Firefighters Tyler Philbrook, Jason Thibodeau, Ishi King, Lukas McRobb and Jason LoCoco, and Capt. Pat Legro.

“I am proud that the members of our Gloucester Fire Department Honor Guard represent our department so well,” said Chief Eric Smith. “The Honor Guard’s participation in events like this reflects the Gloucester Fire Department’s continued commitment to service, tradition, and representing the City of Gloucester with pride.”
