Georgetown Water Department Working to Repair Mechanical Failure at Water Treatment Facility

GEORGETOWN — The Georgetown Water Department is issuing a ban on non-essential water use as crews work to repair a mechanical failure at the water treatment facility.

Crews responded to the water treatment facility at 75 West St. on Thursday, May 7 at about 7 a.m. Georgetown Water staff and contractors are currently working to resolve the issue, a mechanical failure.

While repairs are being made, the treatment facility is operating at 50 percent capacity. Residents across town may notice discolored water or low water pressure until the issue is fully resolved.

While repairs are being made, the Georgetown Water Department asks residents to limit all non-essential water usage. This includes lawn irrigation by sprinklers or automatic systems and washing buildings, driveways, cars or sidewalks (unless necessary for safety and maintenance).

Georgetown Water anticipates that the ban on non-essential water use will be in place for multiple days. The Water Department will provide updates as repairs progress. All updates will be posted to georgetownwater.org.

Georgetown Water thanks residents for their patience and understanding as they work to mitigate this issue.
